Looking to learn how to get free Visa gift cards?
Visa gift cards are great because you can use them nearly everywhere for anything you need to buy, which makes it a great way to redeem points for extra income.
Free gift cards for Visa are flexible for handling your spending and they work like a debit card, with a set amount of money loaded onto them.
Before you doubt it, let me tell you – this is real. I’ve personally earned over 110 free gift cards. It feels amazing to use a free gift card to get something I want.
How To Get Free Visa Gift Cards
Here are some places where you can start getting free Visa gift cards:
Below is more detailed information about each method for getting free Visa gift cards.
1. Swagbucks
Swagbucks is one of the most popular sites to sign up for that will reward you in free gift cards (and PayPal cash too), with over 5,000,000 downloads and over $500,000,000 (yes, $500 million!) in rewards paid out.
You can earn points (called “SB”) on Swagbucks by doing tasks such as answering polls, completing market research questionnaires, shopping online, and playing games. Simply sign up, fill out your profile, and start earning points.
I first started using Swagbucks around 10 years ago, and in that time I have earned over 110 free gift cards for myself. I don’t spend a ton of time on it either, just every now and then.
Sign up for Swagbucks here and get up to a free $10 bonus.
2. Fetch Rewards
Fetch Rewards is a phone app (which I personally use at least once a week!) where you earn points by scanning receipts from your groceries. You can then use these points to get free Visa gift cards.
You get at least 25 points for every receipt no matter what, but you can earn more points if you buy specific items that they feature in their app. These include points for potato chips, trash bags, granola bars, tomatoes, dog treats, and more.
With Fetch Rewards, you can get a Visa Prepaid card in the amount of $5 for 7,000 points all the way to a $50 Visa Prepaid card for 63,500. You can choose between a virtual or a physical card, but they do charge a shipping and handling fee of $3.00 for physical cards.
Fetch Rewards is one of my favorite ways to get free gift cards as I don’t have to do much to earn points. I simply shop as usual, take a picture of my receipt with my phone using the Fetch Rewards app, and earn points. It takes literally less than one minute.

3. Ibotta
Ibotta is an app that gives you money back for your grocery shopping. After you shop, upload your receipts to the app to earn cash that you can use for free Visa gift cards.
Now, this is a little different from Fetch Rewards. With Fetch, you can scan any grocery receipt and get points. But, with Ibotta, you do need to select different offers before you go to the store. So, the two apps are quite similar, and I personally use both at the same time for the same receipts. It’s a way to get even more points for doing something very similar.
Here’s how Ibotta works:
- Browse in the app to see what cash back offers are available before you go to the grocery store (such as laundry detergent or potato chips).
- Go to the store and ring out.
- Take a picture of your grocery receipt using your phone within the Ibotta app to earn cash back.
Some of the cash back items I see when in the app, so that you can get a better idea, include:
- $2.00 cash back for buying Goldfish crackers
- $0.50 cash back for buying body wash
- $3.00 cash back for buying dog food
- $3.00 cash back for buying laundry detergent
And more. The cash back items are constantly changing too.
You can join Ibotta here.
4. Upside
Upside is an app that gives you cash back for your fuel purchases, like when you go to the gas station. Using Upside, you can earn around $150 per year in estimated cash back.
The first time you use the app, you can get a higher cash back amount to help you get familiar with the platform. For my first time using this app, I received $0.74 back per gallon. I bought 12.62 gallons and I saved $9.33 just by using this app for my first time.
Not every gas station near you will be a member in this app, but you can earn rewards at listed stations within the app. There are many qualifying stations near me, so there’s likely some near you too.
You can sign up for Upside here.
5. American Consumer Opinion
American Consumer Opinion is a paid online survey site that pays you to share your opinions in online surveys.
Joining American Consumer Opinion is free, and surveys typically pay around $1 to $5 each. Once you accumulate enough earnings, you can redeem them for free Visa gift cards.
You need at least 1,000 points before you can withdraw and get a free Visa card.

7. Branded Surveys
Branded Surveys allows you to earn points by answering survey questions. You can use these points to get free Visa gift cards. Surveys typically take 5 to 15 minutes and pay between $0.50 and $5.00 each.
As you’ve probably noticed by now, there are quite a few survey sites on this list. Survey companies pay you to answer questions because companies want to know how they can improve their product as well as improve their advertising. By learning more about you, they can improve. The great thing is that these surveys are extremely easy to answer (you do not have to be a rocket scientist), and you can sign up for as many survey sites as you want.

10. Rakuten
Rakuten allows you to earn cash back on your everyday purchases from over 3,500 stores, including Target, Walmart, Kohl’s, Macy’s, Expedia, and Best Buy.
When you buy something, you get a percentage of your purchase back in cash. You can receive your earnings through check or PayPal once a quarter.
For example, some stores may have 5% cash back. This means that if you spent $100 online at that store, then you could expect to see $5.00 in rewards added to your Rakuten account afterwards.
You can receive your earnings via check or PayPal once a quarter, and while Rakuten doesn’t give free Visa gift cards directly, you can use the cash you earn from Rakuten toward buying Visa gift cards.

11. Find Visa gift card giveaways
If you’re interested in getting free Visa gift cards, entering sweepstakes and giveaways can be a fun way to try your luck.
Companies are always hosting giveaways because it not only is a good way to attract new followers but it is also a fun way to keep your current followers and customers excited about your company.
To earn free Visa gift cards through giveaways, you can:
- Follow brands on social media platforms like Instagram. Many companies host giveaways where you can win gift cards. Keep an eye out for their posts or stories announcing these giveaways.
- Search hashtags like #freegiftcards, #giveaway, #giveawayalert, #contest, and #freebie on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram to find Visa gift card giveaways.
- Follow online sweepstakes websites that list current giveaways that include free Visa gift cards.
Entering giveaways isn’t a guaranteed way to get free Visa gift card codes (they are giveaways and contests after all!), but it doesn’t take a lot of time. I have personally used these methods (I used to spend about an hour a week entering giveaways, haha!) and have won quite a few prizes including free gift cards and cash.
12. Prime Opinion

13. See if any of your utility companies have any deals
Okay, so this one is a little harder, but sometimes shopping around pays off.
If you are able to shop around for a better internet plan for your home, a better phone plan, or something else, sometimes companies give out free Visa gift cards for switching to their company.
I know this because I actually just received free gift cards for doing this. I recently signed up for a new home internet plan, and I actually received $250 in free gift cards just for signing up. There was no catch either – the bill was low (only $55 a month for really fast internet), and there was no contract or time period that I had to stay with them either. It was simply free money for being a new customer.
To find potential savings on your utility bills, start by checking the websites of utility companies. Look for special offers or welcome bonuses for new customers. Also, call customer service directly to inquire about any exclusive deals, like those involving Visa gift cards that may not be listed online.
Before you switch, make sure that you read the fine print, are aware of any expiration dates, and compare to the plan that you currently have.
